Telehealth FAQ
A Telehealth appointment lets you speak with a cardiologist via video on your mobile device, tablet, laptop, or computer, which allows a detailed review of your symptoms, results, condition and treatment, similar to an in-person visit.
You’ll need a device with a camera and microphone, as well as a stable Internet connection. Once your appointment is confirmed, you’ll receive an SMS link that connects directly to the video call – no apps needed. If your device doesn’t support video, we’ll use a standard phone call instead.
There will be time to ask questions during your appointment. Please complete the Patient Registration Form beforehand, including an up-to-date medication list and any relevant medical documents.
Telehealth can provide earlier access to cardiology care than an in-person visit and reduce the time and cost of travelling to Perth or a larger centre. It can also help organise cardiac investigations in your local area before specialist review, as well as guiding you and your GP in managing your condition in terms of understanding results and medication advice.
Telehealth consultations are often appropriate for a variety of chronic heart conditions such as coronary artery disease, hypertension, palpitations/arrhythmias and others. Cardiac conditions often require investigations such as ECGs, echocardiograms, Holter monitors, cardiac CT scans, and many others, which can be organised and reviewed via Telehealth.
You can organise a Telehealth appointment through your local doctor. You will require a current referral from your GP or specialist, as well as a recent ECG to be sent through. Appointments can be made to allow you to attend the consultation in the presence of a practice nurse and/or your GP, or from the comfort of your home.
